Dielectric response of a quasi-one-dimensional electron system

چکیده
The dielectric response of a quasi-one-dimensional electron system is studied by including fluctuation effects (in the polarizability) and by using a recently derived analytic form for the electron-electron interactions. General forms for the polarizability matrices both for the intraand inter-subband cases are presented. The generalized polarizability is analytic over the whole region of the wavevectors artd rigorously retains the number neutrality. Various differences between the intraand inter-subband cases for the polarizability and the dielectric matrix function are studied. The theory is used to study impurity screening and plasmon excitations in the presence of multi-subbands. We show that the screened impurity potential of a quasi-one-dimensional electron system is a well defined quantity and, in contrast to its twcand threedimensional counterparts, it is finite at the origin and has stronger Friedel oscillations. An explanation is given for the experimental results of Hansen e t a1 conceming the relationship between the inter-subband plasmon frequencies and the electron densities.

Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method
In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...
متن کاملElectron transport in a quasi-one dimensional channel on suspended helium films
Quasi-one dimensional electron systems have been created using a suspended helium film on a structured substrate. The electron mobility along the channel is calculated by taking into account the essential scattering processes of electrons by helium atoms in the vapor phase, ripplons, and surface defects of the film substrate. It is shown that the last scattering mechanism may dominate the elect...

We provide a self-contained theoretical analysis of the dynamical response of a one dimensional electron system, as confined in a semiconductor quantum wire, within the random phase approximation. We carry out a detailed comparison with the corresponding two and three dimensional situations, and discuss the peculiarities arising in the one dimensional linear response from the non-existence of l...

In this paper, for the first time we have studied theoretically the effect of exchange-correlation holes around electrons in GaAlAs/GaAs/GaAlAs nanostructure on the temperature-dependent dynamic dielectric function of two-dimensional electron gas by employing random phase, STLS and Hubbard approximations. Also, we have investigated another interesting system which is coupled quantum wells struc...
